Handling IE facebook sessions in facebooktabs on multiple pages

It took me almost 2 days, to find a solution for this issue. I was making a facebook tab application at my workplace and after the completion when i started testing the application for cross browser platform, the application started to crash in IE. Upon debugging I found that I am getting “Uncaught OAuthException: Error validating access token” , after spending 2 days digging the issue finally i came to know that the issue was with the sessions in Internet Explorer. The session id is not passed between pages in a facebook tab due to which we get this issue.

The problem lies with a W3C standard called Platform for Privacy Preferences or P3P for short. This will allow Internet Explorer to accept your third-party cookie. Solution to this problem is to send the header on every page that sets a cookie.

header('P3P:CP="IDC DSP COR ADM DEVi TAIi PSA PSD IVAi IVDi CONi HIS OUR IND CNT"');
